Fresh from the suburbs of Birmingham, Jacquie and Barrie Tolley moved to Totnes in 2001 in search of the good life. What they got was a muddy field and a forest of brambles.
Already concerned about the decline of traditional British breeds, they decided to do their bit. A scythe, a digger, and several thousand nails later, they had planned and built a rare breeds farm, which opened in June 2002.
Since then, the farm has been expanded and is still being continually improved. New enclosures, aviaries and pens appear every year, and animals
far more frequently. Jacquie works full-time as a teacher to support the business, while Barrie masterminds and executes further building projects. Both work alongside a team of volunteers to keep visitors happy.
They invite you to share their slice of creamy Devon countryside.
